Look at this dazzling La Romana shore excursion by a cruise passenger.
Before deciding on our shore excursion in La Romana we checked the internet for available shore excursions. We settled for an shore excursion to Isla Saona. The next point of decision was with whom to go? I'm so glad we found Seavis from Bayahibe, they have high ratings in the online reviews. It was a breeze to make the online reservations. After all the details were agreed upon, we got our excursion voucher and the instructions of how to meet up with the taxis. And we didn't have any issues finding the proper cab, we arrived in Bayahibe without a problem, we paid and we boarded the excursion boat.

The boat zipped along the coast line and we stopped at the rocks of Penon, where our tour guide gave interesting facts about the history of the island and about the local wildlife. Our guide Ingrid was great and very knowledgeable. We then arrived at the sandbank and they found the starfish. We got great photo's holding the starfish. And I can confirm they are real, I read some reviews of people questioning this. After sipping our drinks and relaxing a bit we boarded the boat again and headed for Isla Saona. After a short while we arrived at Canto de la Playa, I have never seen such a beautiful beach, it was breathtaking. We were the only group on the beach, very private. I've never seen water that turquoise and the backdrop with the swaying palm trees and the snow white beach made it perfect. Again there was great snorkeling along the coral patches in the protected bay. But I decided to stay on the beach and to soak up the atmosphere. It was beautiful. After a few hours it was time to head back for Bayahibe. I would have liked to stay on that beach forever, but there comes an end to everything. On the way back we were treated with other great views of the island. Get this excursion, you won't be sorry. The cabs were awaiting us on return in Bayahibe and the fare to the dock in La Romana went without having troubles.
